Brian N. Kanz, M.D. Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Brian Kanz is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon in San Antonio, Texas serving the Far West Side of San Antonio and the surrounding communities. His practice encompasses general orthopedic care and he treats a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions with an emphasis in Joint replacement surgery of the Hip, Knee and Shoulder. His practice also includes arthroscopy of the knee and shoulder; sports medicine; pediatric and adult fracture/trauma care; and most common overuse conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, DeQuervain’s tendonitis and tennis elbow. Dr. Kanz is focused on promoting the highest standards of care for a wide array of non-surgical and surgical treatments options in the field of Orthopedics.
Dr. Kanz is a native Texan, born and raised in nearby New Braunfels. After graduating from Canyon High School, he attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in both Chemistry and Animal Science. He continued his education at The University of Texas in Austin and received a Masters of Science degree in Pharmacy through the Division of Medicinal Chemistry. Dr. Kanz attended medical school at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he also completed his internship in general surgery and completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency. At UTMB, he received extensive training in all aspects of musculoskeletal conditions and developed the skills necessary to provide the highest quality care to his patients. Dr. Kanz sought to return to the Texas Hill Country and was excited when given the opportunity to practice in the San Antonio area.
He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and an active fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is also a member of the Texas Medical Association and the Bexar County Medical Society.
Dr. Kanz is married and has 4 children. He is very active with his family and enjoys traveling, camping, swimming, fishing, golf and volunteering as a coach for youth sports.
